How to apply

 Step1

Become an exchange student candidate (Deadline 1st September 2024):

  • Check Eligibility criteria
  • Read the rules and regulations of the exchange program on the exchange application
  • If you meet the eligibility requirements, fill in the Eligibility form
  • Accompanying documents:
  • A copy of your passport. Your passport must be valid for at least another year after the exchange semester.
  • A valid Residency Permit
  • An English Level certificate from the EMU Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School.
  • A statement of purpose, ( max 500 words, 12pts, including date, full name, student number, and signature
If your application is complete and you fulfill all requirements, the list of the available universities will be made accessible to you in order to search for where to go.

 Step 2

Search Where to Go:

You will choose 3 options based you're your level of preference.

  • Visit the host university's website and find an available course.

Please note that it remains the students' responsibility for finding out which courses are offered at the host institution.

  • Fill out the Course Selection Form and submit it to your academic advisor/chair for approval and signature.
  • send the form to studentexchange@emu.edu.tr  (note: unless you complete step 1 and receive a notification, your form will not be accepted ).
You will be nominated to a host university. If you are selected by the host institution, you will be contacted to complete the rest of the procedure to be an exchange student.

 Step 3

 

Get an Acceptance Letter:

  • Fill in the Form for Taking Courses at Another Institution and submit it to the Exchange Program Office (note: only for nominated students).
  • If applicable, follow application procedures at the host institute. Some host institutions may request for:

    TOEFL or IELTS scores

    A bank statement of $ 6000-12000 under your name or your guardian's name officially approved by the bank
  • Receive an acceptance letter

    If sent directly to you, please submit the letter to the Student Exchange Office immediately so that we may keep a copy. We will give the original back to you (to apply for the visa/permit, etc.). Keep the original safe; losing your letter of acceptance can cause significant delays.

    If your host university sends it directly to the Student Exchange Office, we will inform you so that you may pick it up at our office.

We highly recommend that you follow all instructions and deadlines of the host institutions. Obtain all the required documents at least two weeks before the deadline in order to complete your application and avoid any delays!

 

 Step 4

Prepare your Travel:

  • Start your visa process as soon as you receive your letter of acceptance from the host institution. Contact your host country's diplomatic mission (consulate, high commission, or embassy) and check to see the visa requirements of the country you intend to go to.
  • Pay your tuition fees at EMU and submit a student certificate for your exchange semester at the Exchange Program Office.
  • Submit a signed Student's Declaration Form
  • Budget for a number of expenses including the following:
    accommodation and living expenses abroad
    travel expenses (return airfare and transportation within host institution)
    passport and visa costs
    medical insurance
    school supplies and books
    Administrative fee charged by the host institution (if applicable)
    any other incidental costs
Note: Neither university is responsible for expenses incurred by participating students.

 

 Step 5

Return to EMU:

  • An official transcript from your host institution needs to be sent to you or to EMU Internatıonal Promotion Office: submit your transcript to the Registrar's Office and a copy to the Exchange Program Office.
  • Fill in an Exchange Program Questionnaire at the Exchange Program Office (Optional)
